Surrender not an option, Kirams say

BY CLARA CHOOI
ASSISTANT NEWS EDITOR

KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 – Despite talk of “disengagement” of the Sulu army, the daughter of self-styled Sulu Sultan Jamalul Kiram III said today that surrender is still not an option for her uncle Agbimuddin Kiram and his troops in Sabah.
Jacel Kiram said in an ABS-CBN News report here that while she hopes the latest attempt to settle the conflict amicably would result in a peaceful end to the violence, the Kiram clan was still firm on its decision not to “surrender” its claim over Sabah.
“We are firm in our stand that surrender is not acceptable,” she was quoted as saying in the online report.
Another uncle of Jacel’s, sultanate elder Bantilan Esmail Kiram II met with Philippine Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas yesterday to discuss the possibility of pulling the Kiram forces from Sabah and ending the month-long incursion.
Both Esmail and Roxas confirmed that their discussion had centred around “disengagement” of the Sultanate’s “royal army”, but would not elaborate on the matter.
Today, Roxas said he had conveyed several queries raised by Esmail to Philippine President Benigno Aquino III and the latter has directed the Department of Foreign Affair (DFA) to relay them to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
“Personally, I am positive that what has been talked about is for the interest and protection of the Filipino people,” Jacel said in the ABS-CBN News report.
The Kiram family had called for a ceasefire last Thursday upon receiving reports that more of its gunmen were falling from battles with Malaysian forces but Putrajaya rejected the appeal.
But Najib, in an immediate reaction, told the invaders to surrender unconditionally or face death.
In another news report by Interaksyon, sultanate spokesman Abraham Idjirani said that the consideration for “disengagement” had never been on the cards for the Kiram clan.
He reportedly said that it was Roxas who had unilaterally raised the option.
The report also quoted Jamalul’s wife Fatima Cecelia as agreeing with Idjirani and pointing out that the family had never thought of “disengagement” as they were aware this would be misconstrued as surrender.
Meanwhile, Interaksyon reported that according to Esmail’s son Abu Bakar in Sabah, he has been in touch with Agbimuddin and the “crown prince” had said that he is still alive, despite the deadly crackdown by Malaysian forces.
In the 7am phone conversation this morning, Agbimuddin had also reportedly said: “While you are negotiating there, we remain under fire, the fighting goes on.”
Malaysian security forces have been on a relentless search for the gunmen since the launch of Ops Daulat last Tuesday.
To date, 57 militants have been killed in gunfights.

Roura: Messi silenced his critics

By ESPN staff

Barcelona assistant coach Jordi Roura believes Lionel Messi's brace in the 4-0 Champions League win over AC Milan helped to silence critics of the striker's recent form.

Despite scoring three goals in his last five matches before the Milan clash, Messi was a target of criticism as Barcelona were defeated in the first leg of their round of 16 tie and slumped to consecutive losses against Real Madrid.
After being kept quiet in Milan, Messi's first-half double made the difference for Barca in a convincing victory that was "not normal for anyone", according to Roura.
"Messi received criticism in recent days, as all our players did, but today we showed that we could react," he told Sky Sport Italia. "He has a very special way of playing football and the fact he plays like this allows us to have these victories.
"Beating Milan 4-0 is not normal for anyone, not even Barcelona. They are a great team and made life very difficult for us. It was certainly not normal for us.
Barca coach Tito Vilanova, who continues to undergo cancer treatment in New York, reportedly selected the side which featured a surprise pick in David Villa. Roura suggested that Vilanova could return for the quarter-finals of the Champions League and is ready to resume his role at the club.
"It is a very important win for Vilanova," Roura said. "He is fortunately doing well and completing his recovery in New York, so will soon be back. We are happy that we progressed in the Champions League so that we can welcome him back with open arms."

Why Are You Struggling to Make Money Online with Facebook?

No excuses. If you are struggling to make money with Facebook you refuse to do a few key things on a daily basis. The whole science of money making using social media sites is simple. Really. Why do few make a dime online, then?
Well they ignore simple, so simple becomes difficult. Or, they figure that simple looks way too easy, so they develop more complicated systems, which of course, lead to failure. Sorry dude, or dudette, you are not that sophisticated, to follow a complex system, and make money with it. It is just plain dumb, anyway.
What is at the core of seeking out complex, or complicated, when it comes to making money on Facebook?
Greed. You are greedy, so you want to make money online now, and you lack patience, and you are desperate.
If you know anything about prospering, you need to set up a fair exchange. Like, you make money on Facebook by sharing something valuable with your Facebook buddies. Share helpful blog posts, or videos, or webinars, all for free.
Now, after you share this value each day, over the course of weeks, and months, you will begin to RECEIVE value, in the form of money.

Why Do So Many Struggle to Make Money Online with FB?

Well they refuse to GIVE value so they do not GET value. Remember, greed drives many people in the online realm.
Greedy people try to get before they give, using silly systems, or posting ads all day long, ads that do not provide any form of value to their readers. Now, you might wonder, how can you give value, by writing blog posts daily, and shooting videos, and doing all these things?
By busting you’re a**. You work, intelligently, and persistently, and you give value, by writing blog posts each day, and by sharing these on your Facebook profile each day, and across 20, 50 or 1000 relevant Facebook Groups each day, and you will get clicks on your ads. People will join your home business. Promise.
But busting your tail makes it all happen. Smart, intelligent work, not mindless acts, like posting the same ad to 100 Facebook Groups daily, brings you money.

You maintain a clean shop. As word spreads around about your shop, through your efforts, people walk in the door, buy your products and you make money.
OK, you open a cyber store…aka, start a home business. If you want to make money online what do you do? Well, you work 8, 12 or 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. You stock your cyber-shelves with valuable blog posts and videos, creating content daily.
You then share this content on relevant Facebook Groups daily.
You are patient. You make your website or blog enticing. You maintain a clear, clean-looking and clutter free website and blog. As word spreads around about your shop, through your content creation efforts, people visit your blog and website, buy your products or join your team, and you make money with Facebook.

Dwell on This Analogy

6 Ways to Make Money Online with Facebook

how to make money with facebook

If you’re wondering how you can monetise Facebook, then here are some ideas for you -
1. Find new business clients. Whether you’re a consultant, a writer, a photographer, an illustrator, or any other kind of freelance or online business worker, you can find new clients using this popular social networking site. Read more about finding clients on different sites.
2. Use various apps that enable you to make money. Some examples include: MarketLodge or TwitCash. You might also want to include apps by other money making ventures like Tradebit. Check some services or affiliate programmes and see if they have a Facebook app that you can use.
3. Use Facebook’s Marketplace. The Marketplace offers you ways to sell your stuff – either old or new. You can even look for jobs.
4. Advertise your business or service using Facebook’s Classified Ads. Although you’re not allowed to advertise your business or service in the Marketplace, you can still advertise them using their Facebook’s ad service.
5. Promote links to your blogs or website. This way, you can attract people to whatever you’re selling or promoting on your blog or site.
6. Be a Facebook App Developer. If you have skills in developing online applications (like those popular apps like Warbook, SuperPoke, Graffiti, etc), you might want to consider promoting your services to individuals or companies who might want their own Facebook app.
So, how do you use Facebook? Do you try to make money online through this social networking site?

How to make money online

  1. The first step is to stop Googling things like, "how to make money online." Not because you shouldn't want to make money online, but because the stuff you're going to find by doing that is going to help you lose money online. Sort of like asking a casino owner how to make money in Vegas...
  2. Don't pay anyone for simple and proven instructions on how to achieve this goal. In particular, don't pay anyone to teach you how to write or sell manuals or ebooks about how to make money online.
  3. Get rich slow.
  4. Focus on the scarce resource online: attention. If you try to invent a way to take cheap attention and turn it into cash, you will fail. The attention you want isn't cheap, it's difficult to get via SEO and it rarely scales. Instead, figure out how to earn expensive attention.
  5. In addition to attention, focus on trust. Trust is even more scarce than attention.
  6. Don't worry so much about the 'online' part. Instead, figure out how to create value. The online part will take care of itself.
  7. Don't quit your day job. Start evenings and weekends and figure it out with small failures.
  8. Build a public reputation. A good one, and be sure that you deserve it, and that it will hold up to scrutiny.
  9. Obsessively specialize. No niche is too small if it's yours.
  10. Connect the disconnected.
  11. Lead.
  12. Build an online legacy that increases in value daily.
  13. Make money offline. If you can figure out how to create value face to face, it's a lot easier to figure out how to do the same digitally. The web isn't magic, it's merely efficient.
  14. Become the best in the world at something that people value. Easier said than done, worth more than you might think.
  15. Hang out with people who aren't looking for shortcuts. Learn from them.
  16. Fail. Fail often and fail cheaply. This is the very best gift the web has given to people who want to bootstrap their way into a new business.
  17. Make money in the small and then relentlessly scale.
  18. Don't chase yesterday's online fad.
  19. Think big, act with intention and don't get bogged down in personalities. If it's not on your agenda, why are you wasting time on it?
  20. Learn. Ceaselessly. Learn to code, to write persuasively, to understand new technologies, to bring out the best in your team, to find underused resources and to spot patterns.
  21. This is not a zero sum game. The more you add to your community, the bigger your piece gets.

Saiful’s father joins PKR, defends sodomy conspiracy claims

By Syed Jaymal Zahiid

PETALING JAYA, March 11 — Saiful Bukhari Azlan’s father announced today he would be joining Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s PKR, just three days after he alleged “evil conspiracy” behind the party de facto leader’s second sodomy charge and his subsequent apology to Anwar’s family.
Azlan Mohd Lazim, however, maintained that his decision to join the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) anchor party had nothing to do with his accusation, saying he had been a PKR backer “as a grassroots supporter” since its formation in 1998.
He dismissed allegations that he was paid to make such claims and insisted that the revelation, made amid anticipation that national polls will be held within weeks, was the truth.
“I believe this is the right time to do it and support the movement for change,” Azlan told a packed press conference at the party’s headquarters here, flanked by PR’s top leadership.
“I would like to tell my son that my love for him is undivided… just because I am joining PKR it does no mean my love for him will wither away.”
The father of three also dismissed calls for him to back his claims by swearing on the Quran just as Saiful did in his sodomy allegation against Anwar.
Saiful had issued the same challenge to the PKR de facto leader who described it as a political gimmick to win Malay-Muslim support and which he subsequently refused to entertain.
“The issue of sumpah (swearing on the Quran), a lot of people have sworn… I am not afraid but I will not do so,” Azlan said when pressed by reporters.
“If you can absolve crime through sumpah then you don’t need the courts,” said PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifudin Nasution, speaking at the same press conference.
In a heavily-guarded press conference on Friday, Azlan said the plot was planned by a special officer in the Prime Minister’s Department and was engineered to tarnish Anwar’s image with another sodomy charge, the opposition leader’s second since he lost his post in government in 1998.
Rivals claimed the timing of his revelation was aimed at boosting PR’s polls support although analysts polled by The Malaysian Insider said they believed Azlan’s allegation will not impact Election 2013 much.
“I cannot stop what people want to say of their accusations. I accept the view of others openly,” said Azlan on accusations that he was paid to make the conspiracy claims.
“I am doing this not to get public support. As his (Saiful) father, I am very much aware of what was going on behind the curtains,” he added.
Azlan maintained that his decision to join PKR was a “professional” move.
On January 9 last year, the High Court acquitted and discharged Anwar of sodomising Saiful, 27, at a Desa Damansara condominium unit in Bukit Damansara here between 3.10pm and 4.30pm on June 26, 2008.
The veteran politician, who had earlier sued Saiful for wrongfully accusing him of sodomy, later withdrew the suit, saying his reputation had been vindicated by the acquittal.
The Attorney-General’s Chambers has appealed the acquittal, however, and hearing in the Court of Appeal has been set for July 22.

Ronaldo brace sends Madrid second

Real Madrid climbed into second place in La Liga and returned to 13 points behind bitter rivals Barcelona after a 2-1 win over a Celta Vigo side who made them work all the way.
Cristiano Ronaldo celeb Real Madrid v Celta Vigo
APCristiano Ronaldo has now scored 26 goals in 26 La Liga games this season after a brace against Celta Vigo

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a scrappy opener and a winner from the penalty spot, after Iago Aspas' equaliser, to take his tally to 188 goals in 186 appearances for the club.
Celta substitute Park Chu-Young headed against the crossbar late on but Real held on for victory.
Atlletico Madrid surrendered second place in the Primera Division as Real Sociedad brought their 100% home record in the league this season to an end with a narrow 1-0 victory at the Vicente Calderon.
Xabi Prieto scored the only goal of the game on 53 minutes but was fortunate his effort was not disallowed for offside. The victory took Phillippe Montanier's side up to fifth in the Primera Division table, behind fourth-placed Malaga on goal difference alone.
Iker Muniain scored his first goal of the season as Athletic Bilbao overcame Valencia 1-0 at San Mames to record a victory that eased their fears of being dragged into a relegation fight.
The result was also a blow to Valencia's hopes of qualifying for the Champions League, as Ernesto Valverde's side, who were knocked out of Europe's elite competition by Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, missed the chance to capitalise on Malaga's draw on Saturday and claim fourth spot.
And the Valencia coach is likely to be furious with his team for failing to at least get on the scoresheet after creating a far greater number of chances than their opponents in the second half.
Jeremy Mathieu failed to properly clear a low cross from the right hand side and Muniain pounced on the loose ball to rifle it into the top corner with the inside of his right foot after 79 minutes.
Levante missed the chance to move closer to the Europa League places as Getafe survived a one-sided goalless draw at the Ciutat de Valencia.
The east-coast outfit reached 36 points and 10th place courtesy of the stalemate - their highest-ever points tally at this stage of a Primera Division season - but they were left to rue a chronic lack of incision in front of goal.
Visiting goalkeeper Miguel Moya deserved praise for keeping Robert Acquafresca and Pedro Rios at bay in the first half but in truth, ninth-placed Getafe were lucky to escape with a point.

Mexican state's tourism minister shot to death in ambush

Reuters/Reuters - Investigators and members of a forensic team gather around a car where the new tourism minister of Jalisco state Jose de Jesus Gallegos was shot dead at a crime scene between Guadalajara and Zapopan limits March 9, 2013

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - The new minister of tourism in one of Mexico's biggest states was shot and killed on Saturday afternoon in an upscale neighborhood of Guadalajara, the country's second most populous city, local officials said.
Jose de Jesus Gallegos, tourism minister for Jalisco, the home of tequila and Mexico's mariachi music, was stopped in his vehicle by armed men and gunned down with a pistol, state Interior Minister Arturo Zamora told reporters.
Gallegos had been in office only a week in the state, which President Enrique Pena Nieto's Institutional Revolutionary Party recaptured in a 2012 election after 18 years in opposition. The new state government took office on March 1.
Zamora said the initial investigation suggested the killing was related to Gallegos' business activities and had nothing to do with his government post.
Gallegos was the founder of Jegal Project and Construction Management, which developed expensive resorts and luxury towers across Mexico, according to the company website.
Home to 7.5 million people and dominated by Guadalajara, Jalisco is Mexico's fourth most populous state, accounting for roughly 6.5 percent of gross domestic product.
Jalisco's government has not named any suspects in the killing of Gallegos, which Pena Nieto condemned in a statement from his Twitter account, pledging to investigate the crime.
Gang-related killings rose during the 2006-2012 rule of Pena Nieto's predecessor, Felipe Calderon, who staked his reputation on crushing Mexico's violent drug cartels.
But instead, gang violence worsened, and the number of homicides in Jalisco rose to about 1,200 in each of the past two years, from less than 400 in 2007, according to police data.
On taking office last December, Pena Nieto vowed to quell the lawlessness and killing that have stained Mexico's image as a tourist destination and rattled investors.
Guadalajara has seen deepening violence since soldiers killed drug boss Ignacio "Nacho" Coronel in 2010 in the same neighborhood of mansions where Gallegos was ambushed. Coronel's death fueled turf wars among drug traffickers in the area.

QPR and Villa rally for vital victories

By ESPN staff
Queens Park Rangers' Premier League survival bid is well-and-truly alive after they earned only their fourth win of the season against Sunderland on Saturday. However, Reading remain in deep trouble following defeat in the big relegation six-pointer against Aston Villa, while Southampton stay close to the bottom three after a stalemate at Norwich.
Gabriel Agbonlahor finds the top corner to put Aston Villa in front at Reading
GettyImagesGabriel Agbonlahor completed the comeback with Aston Villa's valuable winner at Reading

Paul Lambert's Aston Villa side claimed three enormous points with a 2-1 win over Reading at the Madejski Stadium, leaving the Royals 19th in the Premier League - only above QPR by virtue of the goals scored column. Strikes from Christian Benteke and Gabriel Agbonlahor lifted Villa out of the relegation zone above Wigan, and they had to come from behind on away soil.
Reading actually took the lead thanks to a horror show for 21-year-old Villa defender Nathan Baker on the half-hour, diverting the ball into his own net with his standing leg as he attempted to clear Jobi McAnuff's cross.
However, within two minutes Villa were level, Benteke's deflected effort finding its way past Stuart Taylor after the ball came in from the flank. Reading then contributed to their own downfall with some awful defending for Villa's second on the stroke of the interval, although nothing should detract from Agbonlahor's emphatic finish.
The home crowd howled with disapproval in the second period when Noel Hunt's strike was flagged for offside - replays showing it was a matter of inches. Reading pressed forward, having carved out a reputation for fightbacks this season, but they could not rescue the situation on this occasion, leaving them four points adrift of safety.
Harry Redknapp has history when it comes to defying the Premier League trapdoor, earning the nickname "Harry Houdini" for his magic act at Portsmouth. He requires something similarly spectacular at QPR, and a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over Sunderland courtesy of Loic Remy, Andros Townsend and Jermaine Jenas gave Rangers a giant shot in the arm. The Loftus Road club found themselves staring at a potential six-point gulf to 17th place at one stage in the afternoon, but they broke their league goalscoring drought - stretching back to Boxing Day on home soil - to keep the gap at four.
Steven Fletcher netted Sunderland's opener in the 20th minute, converting a quick counter after Adam Johnson's shot was blocked. However, Remy scored his first goal at Loftus Road to equalise with a classy finish at the near post, before Townsend smashed the goal of the day - chesting and volleying home from 25 yards to win it. Jenas then added another high-quality strike as Rangers enjoyed a rare moment of comfort in the dying minutes.
Southampton will be looking nervously over their shoulders following a 0-0 draw away to Norwich. Mauricio Pochettino has taken a mere six points from seven games in charge since he controversially replaced Nigel Adkins as manager, and Saints remain only four clear of drop zone.

They had plenty of chances in a lively first half at Carrow Road, although it was early in the second period that the first real gilt-edged opportunity went begging when Adam Lallana fired over with the goal at his mercy. Controversy arrived in injury-time when Norwich were awarded a soft penalty, but Artur Boruc proved the Saints hero with a save from Grant Holt.
In the day's other game, West Brom maintained their hunt for European football, beating Swansea 2-1 at the Hawthorns. Victory lifts the Baggies above Liverpool into seventh and came courtesy of goals from Romelu Lukaku and Jonathan De Guzman (OG).
Michu missed a couple of early chances for the Swans but Luke Moore steered home a clever header on the half-hour to open the scoring. Lukaku used his pace and power to equalise close to half-time, but then saw a second-half penalty saved. The Baggies were not to be denied, De Guzman the unlucky man as Angel Rangel's clearing heading ricocheted in off his back.

I stand by my accusation, says Saiful

Saiful Bukhari Azlan also criticised Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, claiming the latter was using his father to further his own political agenda.
KUALA LUMPUR:The Sodomy II story has taken another twist with the accused, Saiful Bukhari Azlan, maintaining that he would stick to his accusation that Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim had sodomised him.
“In the name of Allah, my race and Malaysia, I will not budge from my allegation, the statements I made in court and the religious oath I took in a mosque years back, till my death,” said Saiful.
He said this at a press conference held at his lawyer’s office, in response to his father’s shocking move this morning.
Also present was his lawyer, Zamri Idrus.
This morning, Saiful’s father, Azlan Mohd Lazim, told in a hastily arranged press conference that Anwar was innocent of the accusation that he had sodomised his son.
The 60-year-old retiree also claimed that Saiful was used by unscrupulous people to further their vile agenda.
Azlan named Zamri and Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s special officer Khairil Annas Jusoh as being part of the conspiracy.
He alleged that the press statements he made in the past were scripted by Zamri, under the instructions of Khairil.
A visibly upset Saiful lashed out at Anwar, claiming the latter was using his father to further his political ambitions.
“I warn you [Anwar]. Don’t use my father to twist the truth, no matter how desperate you are.
“But I have faith in Allah. Truth cannot be surpressed in any way,” Saiful said, adding that it was the opposition’s attempt to divert people’s attention from the recent foreign armed intrusion in Sabah.
‘Sodomy trial not over’
On his relationship with his father, Saiful said that he was close to his father.
“I was shocked at what happened this morning. My father was cordial towards me and I just spoke to him last night about his cats,” said Saiful, adding that he could not reach Azlan on the phone since this morning.
Saiful, however, said that he has no ill-feelings towards his father and he had forgiven Azlan for the latest happening.
“He’s my father and I will always love him. I pray to Allah that my father will see the truth,” he said.
Meanwhile, Zamri denied Azlan’s allegations that he had scripted the latter’s press statement in the past.
He also questioned Azlan’s intention of holding a press conference arranged by an opposition MP.
“If he [Azlan] was sincere, why not get a neutral person for help?
“Besides, he had been backing his son all the way since 2008. Why say this now?” asked Zamri.
PKR MP Johari Abdul was present with Azlan at the press conference this morning.
Zamri also reminded that Anwar’s sodomy trial is not over as the Court of Appeal would hear the case on July 22 and 23.
Whether a legal suit would be filed against Azlan for his accusations, Zamri said: “As for his claims  against Saiful, I will wait for the latter’s advice but I am thinking about a suit on Azlan’s allegations against me.”

Saiful’s dad: Anwar innocent of sodomy

KUALA LUMPUR:  In a shocking turnaround of event, Saiful Bukhari Azlan’s father told a group of selected media today that Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim is innocent of the Sodomy II accusation.
In a hastily arranged press conference, Azlan Mohd Lazim,60, said that Anwar was a victim of a vile political conspiracy.
“My son was used by several unscrupulous individuals, including Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s special officer, Khairil Annas Jusoh.
“These people masterminded the slander against Anwar, using my son,” he alleged.
Last year, Anwar was acquitted by the Kuala Lumpur High Court on charges of sodomising Saiful, his former aide.
The Attorney-General’s Chambers appealed against the verdict and the Court of Appeal is scheduled to hear the case on July 22.
Azlan, a semi-retiree, said that he had stood by his son’s accusation against Anwar in the past to provide moral support to Saiful.
“He’s my son and I know he is good person but as I was attending his trial in the last four years, I sensed something was amiss.
“Some people also gave me evidence which convinced me of Anwar’s innocence. As a Malay and a Muslim, I cannot continue being a pawn in this evil scheme of things,” he said.
‘My conscience is clear’
During the question and answer session, Azlan claimed that his previous statements to the media were scripted by his lawyer, Zamri Idrus.
“My lawyers prepared my statements, under the instructions of Khairil,” he alleged.
But he admitted that he has never met Khairil personally but heard about the officer from his son.
“The government did not meet me to discuss the case or even ask my opinion. Everything is carefully handled by Khairil,” said Azlan.
On why his son got involved the plot, Azlan said he was in the dark on the matter.
Whether Saiful is aware of him having a press conference today, Azlan refused to comment.
“If he is unhappy, that is up to him. All I know is that my conscience is clear,” he said.
Azlan added that he was prepared to repeat his statement in court if he was given the space.
“God willing, if I have the opportunity, I will also personally tender an apology to Anwar and his family for the troubles they have undergone,” he said.
Saiful had previously sworn in a mosque that he had been sodomised by Anwar, a charge whichwas always denied by the opposition parliamentarian.

Lahad Datu: Malaysia rejects self-styled Sulu Sultan’s unilateral ceasefire

By SIRA HABIBU

LAHAD DATU: Malaysia has rejected the unilateral ceasefire call by self-proclaimed Sulu Sultan Jamalul Kiram III.
Sulu militants must lay down arms and surrender unconditionally and operations against them "will go on as long as it takes," said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at a press conference on Thursday.
He also announced the setting up of a special security area to secure the borders of the east coast of Sabah and reassure the people of Sabah about their safety.
The area encompassed the districts of Kudat, Tawau, Kunak, Sandakan and Lahad Datu.
Najib announces the setting up of a special security area for Sabah's east coast during a press conference in Lahad Datu. Najib announces the setting up of a special security area for Sabah's east coast during a press conference in Lahad Datu.
Najib said five battalions of the army and police would be stationed at the special area.
“Immediate steps will be taken to set up a temporary command centre in Lahad Datu,'' he said.
He also said that the question of whether Sabah was part of Malaysia should not arise as that has been determined legally as far back as 1878 and subsequently by the referendum conducted by the Cobbold Commission ahead of the formation of Malaysia.
“Do not underestimate Malaysia's determination to maintain Sabah as part of Malaysia,” he said.
Earlier Thursday, Defense Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has tweeted that the ceasefire would only be accepted if all the militants surrendered unconditionally.

The self-proclaimed Sulu sultan had called for an immediate ceasefire to the standoff in Sabah following calls by United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to end violence in Sabah and start holding dialogues.
“The Sultan (Jamalul Kiram III) is calling for a unilateral ceasefire of the sultanate of Sulu effective this hour, 12.30 in the afternoon of Thursday,” spokesperson Abraham Idjirani said, according to ABS-CBNnews.com.
He said this is out of respect to the call of the UN secretary-general to end the violence there. He said this is “in order to reciprocate the call of the UN to preserve lives.”

The spokesman had also told Reuters that 10 of the Sultan's followers at Lahad Datu had died during the confrontation with Malaysian security forces and that another 10 have since been captured.
Four other followers were wounded, according Idjirani. "They will not come home, and would rather die fighting if cornered," he said of the remaining followers in Sabah, according to Reuters.
The UN chief had earlier expressed concern about the impact of the standoff on the civilian population, including migrants in the region.
Ban is closely monitoring the situation in Sabah and would like to see all parties engage in talks for the peaceful resolution of the issue, a UN statement said.
He also urged all parties to "facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance and act in full respect of international human rights norms and standards."

On the fringe, debates over legalizing same-sex marriage may also be inciting people.
“There Will Be Blood! I’m Coming For You...” Defendant Franklin G. Sain said, using sexual and racial epithets often in his communications.
Rhonda Fields, a black Colorado legislator whose son was murdered in a crime committed with a gun, received a letter with those words and numerous emails making similar claims and using similar racist, sexist language. She supports tougher gun laws in a state where there have been two major massacres, Columbine and the Aurora theater shooting.
The sender was an ex-Marine, who has said he has numerous weapons and clips.
In an email, Sain said, “Do you actually think Americans will put up with this … I guarantee there is not enough law enforcement, or military to stop an all out overthrow of this government if you or that (expletive deleted) President tries to take over our guns…Guarantee we will make World War I and II look like childs play, many will die…be prepared…”
The above information comes from the arrest affidavit provided by Denver District Attorney Mitchell Morrisey.
Although Sain’s lawyer says everything he said was covered by free speech, Denver police arrested him.
He was released on $30,000 bail and faces charges for attempting to influence a public servant, a felony, and ethnic harassment, a misdemeanor. He is due in court Friday.
Westword magazine says his position as an executive with SofTec Solutions has been suspended, pending resolution of the case.
There are many more examples of his strong comments available in the court file and news reports.
For example, in an email that also mentioned Fields’ daughter, he said, “Hopefully somebody Gifford’s both of your (expletive deleted) with a gun...."
The reference was to Gabrielle Giffords, the former Arizona congresswoman who was forced to resign after being shot in head during a public meeting in which six people died and 13 were injured.
Working against Sain is not only the character of his remarks, but the volume. He admitted to police he sent as many as eight, plus left messages and sent at least one letter.
The legal question is whether his comments amount to threats. One issue is that in past massacres, the killers did not say who they were going to kill.
In this case, Sain’s remarks are directed at a named individual.
Determining what makes a threat is going to be a matter of opinion in many cases, like pornography.
The late Supreme Court Justice Potter Steward said it was hard to define pornography but “I know it when I see it.”
Sain’s military service in Iraq could help or hurt. On the one hand he has earned the nation’s gratitude, on the other it is clear he was trained to kill.
No specific threat was made against President Obama and the Secret Service said it was taking no action for the time being.

LAHAD DATU: Villagers recall frightening experience

LAHAD DATU: A Kampung Tanjung Batu resident went through a frightening experience when he was stopped by a group of seven armed intruders who asked him for cigarette while he was riding home on a motorcycle on Monday.

Abdul Rahman Seilani, 53, said the men, who were clad in military fatigue, stopped him while he was riding along a road in the village at about 9 am.

"I then gave them a pack of cigarettes that I had and they gave me RM50, but I did not take it," he said when met at the Fajar Harapan Hall at Felda Sahabat, 130 km from here, today.

Abdul Rahman said he decided to leave the village by traversing the coastline to Kampung Tanjung Labian before making his way to the Felda's workers quarters in Fajar Harapan to stay with his son.

Meanwhile, residents from seven villages are taking refuge at the Felda Harapan Hall in Felda Sahabat following the security forces' mopping-up operations against the armed in Kampung Tanduo near here.

Another resident, Yusof Sarang, 58, said about 40 villagers waded a knee-deep water along the beach to Tanjung Labian to come to the Fajar Harapan Hall.

"I decided to take along my wife and three children upon hearing news about the presence of Sulu armed intruders.

"We brought some clothes with us and are now staying at the house of my nephew in Fajar Harapan," he added. - BERNAMA

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson and his Manchester United players were livid after Nani was sent off on a red card in the second half of Tuesday's Champions League match against Real Madrid.
Now, Ferguson and company may be furious over fines that will likely be heading their way for their behavior after the match.

The controversy over the Nani call will undoubtedly be the most memorable moment in this game. United was leading 1-0 when he was sent off, and Real Madrid pounced on the man advantage, scoring two goals and advancing to the Champions League quarterfinals.
Many folks thought the call was too harsh, as it appeared Nani was making a play on the ball. Still, his attempt was reckless and he did have his spikes in the air for his high challenge on Real Madrid's Alvaro Arbeloa.
No matter what you think of the call, however, Ferguson was still required to meet with the media for 20 minutes after the match, according to the Sky Sports report, and failed to do so. Expect him to receive a fine.
United's players also didn't grant any interviews, and many of the players were seen pointing fingers and yelling angrily at the referee after the match.
It's hard to blame the Red Devils and Ferguson for being so angry after the match—the call completely changed the game's momentum—but they are still required to act professionally. They failed to do so, and now at least Ferguson is likely to pay.

List of Board Games

Expert Author McKay Anderson
There are two styles of Avid gamers. Don't get them mixed-up. I despised the name 'Gamer' for many years. I didn't suspect it related to me in the slightest. See, I grew up not knowing much more than Mario Kart as well as the Legend of Zelda for the Nintendo 64. Those were the good days. It didn't take long for me to leave behind the video game systems and head for a kind of what I may likely judge far more 'wholesome' entertainment. I fell deeply in love with board games.
For sure, video games have their place, still I would bring up 3 reasons why I in essence rejected video games and ventured into Tabletop Games. A few might not seem that different, and many bear similarities and yet i am going to lay out a handful of ground rules for activities that I approve of.
First would include activity. I rejoiced when the Wii from Nintendo was released not to mention the Kinect from Microsoft. Motion has a way of improving game play regardless of what it is. As opposed to the thumbs being the main thing moving, I like a game or activity that requires action. The more action the better. Card games aren't that action intensive, but you have to admit there is certainly a whole lot more in arranging pieces, cards, rolling dice, and dealing cards than there is in the flicking of a joystick. Thus, I really like video games similar to 'Just Dance'.
Second I might add that social interaction is essential. In this board or tabletop games take a large stride in front of video games. If you are going to be having fun, why not share it with people. We remember events a great deal more if someone else was associated. Mario Party was an amazing invention and I still have Mario Kart tournaments with my relatives. Tabletop Games are virtually solely two or more players. Board Games are excellent for their encouragement of social interaction.
And the last is physicality. Perhaps sometime in the future video games will bridge this gap, however for now, board games have the upper hand on the physical component. The other day I played a game of Quirkle and the board was so eye-catching I simply had to sit there and stare at it for a short time. I was in awe. I would submit there is an aesthetic benefit that accompanies Board Games that you simply cannot get with video games.
Board games and video games certainly provide their advantages and drawbacks, nevertheless I merely hoped to present a few reasons why I think that board games usually beat out video games. The physical activity involved, the social interaction, and physicality are just 3 of the reasons why I will always take pleasure in board games.

His Financial Goals: Saving More and Paying Down Credit Card Debt

Graham Wood, AOL Real Estate
Everyone has things they want to improve about their financial lives, even those of us who are paid to write and think about money on a daily basis. To that end, the editors at DailyFinance and other AOL sites shared their 2013 goals with personal finance expert Jean Chatzky. Today she offers some tips to help AOL Real Estate editor-in-chief Graham Wood, who wants to be more disciplined about saving so he can wipe out his credit-card debt.

Here's what Jean suggested:

Step 1: Here's a helpful way to think about saving: It doesn't require "discipline" if you automate the process. You make the decision to save just once, and then you never have to think about it again. If you want the 10 percent to come directly out of your paycheck (versus an electronic transfer from checking to savings), head to your HR department with the account number, routing number and bank information of the account to which you want to direct that 10 percent.

Step 2: Paying off the credit card debt in the cheapest, fastest way possible is a four-step process. First, call your credit card company to see if you can negotiate lower interest rates on those cards (if you can't, look into a balance transfer). Next, figure out how much free cash you can throw against your debt each month -- the more, the better. Tracking your spending will help. Third, put that extra money toward the credit card with the highest interest rates, while still making minimum payments on the rest. Fourth, once that highest-interest card is paid off, repeat the process with the card with the next highest interest rate until all your debt is wiped out.

Fabulous at 50

Expert Author Judith A Mercer
Gone are the days of our mothers and grandmothers, when reaching 50 really did seem old (or was that just because we were so young?) For many, 50 meant dressing in loose-fitting, shapeless clothes, having a weekly shampoo and set and perhaps even giving up wearing make-up altogether.
In the 21st century we don't want to look like our mothers, but it's not advisable to try to look like our daughters either, despite many in the media who would have us believe that the only way to be noticed and valued is to be in your twenties with a slim body, perfect teeth and long, glossy hair, i.e. a Cheryl Cole lookalike.
OK, so we can't all look like the latest batch of young celebrities and most of us certainly can't afford the stylists, make-up artists or personal trainers they often have in their entourage, but that doesn't mean that we should give up and fade into the background.
There are of course some things you would be advised to leave behind when you reach your 40's and upwards, such as mini-skirts, crop tops and ripped jeans. It's probably also time to consider alternatives to skimpy underwear (especially those thongs that make you feel like you're wearing a cheese wire).
It's vital that you get the foundations right should your once-toned body be suffering the effects of gravity. There is so much choice available these days for all shapes and sizes - gel-filled bras to give you the look of a larger bust, an increasingly varied choice for those of us above a D cup, pretty and practical styles of mastectomy bras are finally becoming more easily available and there are endless ranges of 'hold it all in' shape wear. It may not be sexy but it will certainly help to give you a fabulous silhouette.
Where your bra is concerned you should be professionally measured regularly - about every 6 months. Lingerie departments in most of the large stores will provide this service, along with the High Street lingerie chains, but don't forget your nearest independent lingerie shop. They can usually tell you what size you should be wearing without the use of a tape measure. They can be hard to find these days, but if you manage to locate one do give it a try.
Once you've got the basics right the next step is to find the styles that flatter your shape and stick to them. If you understand how to dress for your shape, proportions and scale you are well equipped to look stunning every day, regardless of age. If you've reached your middle years without ever understanding why some outfits look great while others just don't work at all, then perhaps it's time to seek some professional advice. Image consultants such as myself can really help you to discover which styles and fabrics work well for you and which are best avoided, as well as showing you how to pull together a complete look that works for your lifestyle and budget.
Just because we are more mature it doesn't mean we want to completely give up on fashion. It's true that some of the more outrageous styles would be best left to the younger generation, but adding some on-trend accessories, or a few pieces in the latest shades (assuming they suit your natural colouring) will help to keep you looking up-to-date.
Lastly, one element that is important whatever your age is learning to develop your own individual style. Each one of us is unique and we should embrace that. Think about the type of clothes and accessories you are drawn to, how dramatic, casual or classic your overall look tends to be. Do you love pretty prints and frills or great tailoring? Do you prefer a wash and wear hairstyle or a sharp asymmetric bob? Reflecting your personality in your overall appearance will help you to look and feel confident, with no thoughts of becoming invisible.

AWeber - A Tool That Will Do Your Job for You!

Expert Author Katia Bashutska
Online marketing has never been easier with all the current tools that allow you to automate the process and give you extra time to concentrate on more important things like thinking through your marketing strategies and building relationships.
One of the tools that I have discovered for myself in my early days of making money online and am staying very loyal to now is AWeber.
AWeber is an auto-responder. It helps you build a list of prospects and to ensure your emails are delivered effectively. AWeber is the industry leader in auto-responders and certainly is the most popular amongst professional bloggers.
Luckily, I have avoided the hassle of doing everything manually or through worse auto-responders in the very beginning. I had great mentors who introduced me to AWeber in the first weeks. I've heard lots of dramatic stories though from online marketers who were trying to do the automated part on their own. They had to make sure they always have their alert calendar close by - on the computer or on the phone; covering fridge and bathroom mirror with sticky notes and keeping complex spreadsheets in order to not forget sending concurrent emails to their list based on which stage they were on at that point. And all that manual work to mainly ensure that an auto-responder does its job.
Discovering AWeber auto-responder was like a revelation for many of them. The very many benefits of this tool included:
o Internet Marketers were now able to now save lots of time - all you need to do is to prepare your emails, copy and paste them into AWeber and tell the system at which stage emails have to go out. This allows you to always "be there" for your list. Your list would be able to reply directly to these emails and you will get letters in your inbox without having to log in to AWeber.
o Reliability - when you create emails, you can't know for a fact how "spam prone" they are. AWeber ranks your emails against spam and you can always amend the text to rank well. This protection ensures your emails go through numerous filters and don't appear in people's junk folder in their inbox.
o Templates - AWeber provides a variety of templates for email campaigns and opt-in forms
o Track the clicks - the system will tell you what links in your emails are clicked, whether emails are read or not read and when.
o Unlimited emails - you can send as many emails as you like from your account. There is no limit and no extra charge.
o Customer service - a week after I have registered with AWeber, I actually got a personal call from their representative, who knew I was based in the UK and called during UK day time (being based in the States though) to ask me how I was getting on and whether I needed any help with any aspects of AWeber at all!
AWeber has helped me to automate my business and has saved me lots of time and headache. It is extremely important for an online marketer to have a reliable auto-responder. How you communicate with your list is a huge part of how you present yourself and your brand. AWeber is not expensive at all and the rewards on this minor investment can be huge. Of course, your list brings you the money, though it is how you handle and nourish it that defines your income level.

A Few Tips to Reduce or Eliminate E-Mail Spam

Expert Author Sean MacDonald
The first and probably most important technique for preventing unwanted spam is to simply not give out your e-mail address to any person or business that you do not personally know and trust. This may seem a bit counterproductive to the whole purpose of having an e-mail account, yet it really is the first line of defense in the battle of reducing or eliminating unsolicited e-mail, or simply spam. While it can happen with personal e-mails the sharing or distribution of your e-mail address to sell-able lists typically will occur from the business sector. It is from these sell-able lists that the unwanted spam is born. Try and separate personal e-mail accounts from business related e-mail, which will reduce your personal e-mail exposure to the marketing lists.
Another very helpful strategy for cutting down your spam intake is to have specific e-mail accounts for specific tasks. For example, an e-mail address specifically for public use such as online shopping or signing up for this free trial or that promotion. These public addresses can go ahead and fill up with spam because you don't care. It's not your personal e-mail that has all your private information associated with it. Keep in mind however, when doing any type of online purchase to be cognizant of the privacy policies and how much information you include. There are many companies offering free e-mail services and these are superb for using as a public e-mail.
Finally, even though it does not occur from the private or personal e-mailing sector as often, the sharing of your e-mail address without your knowledge or consent does happen. How does this happen is answered in the information I am about to share with you about how to prevent it. Typically you give your e-mail to a friend and that friend gives it to another. Also, the person you gave your e-mail to is a "feel good" e-mailer, who feels it necessary to send you and all their other friends, co-workers, and acquaintances the joke or 'pass it on' e-mails. In these e-mails they Carbon copied you and everyone else. There it is, your e-mail and 99 other e-mails of people you don't know, some of them business e-mails, who also do not know you but now have a listing of all the included e-mail address. That is how your private e-mail that you only shared with one person has been transmitted around the internet world. So, the technique to prevent this is to very directly and firmly, yet in a nice polite way, inform anyone with whom you share your private or personal e-mail with to not share your e-mail with anyone without first contacting you, and to never include your e-mail in any of their mass mailings. This will prevent any misunderstanding and keep your private e-mail spam free.

Penny Auction Secrets

Expert Author B Chase Malan
Have you ever had a friend or relative that legally changed their name? Do you remember thinking to yourself why he or she did that? I mean, to you, he just looks like a David right? For some reason the name just fits him. He sounds like a David or your friend Alex walks like an Alex. For some reason our names define us to a certain degree, and in a very similar way the username you end up choosing for your penny auction account will either give the impression of an easy victory, or it will show you as a big threat to your competition.
Another concept to consider is psychology. People tend to participate in fun and exciting things that bring a lot of pleasure, happiness and a sense of joy. On the other hand, they will avoid stressful and frustrating circumstances like a plague. What does that mean to you? Well, one of the things you'll need to do is come up with a username that in effect says, "I'm here to play with your mind." "I'm rich, and just want to mess with people." "I will win no matter the cost." "I have a temper, don't mess with me because you'll lose." Please don't take this into real life circumstances though. I am not saying you need to change your character and personality in general here. What I mean is when you are bidding using an effective username, other bidders will take notice and just might adjust their bidding around your bidding schedule accordingly.
Another important thing. If your username is slightly annoying, it will psychologically irritate your competition. You'll want to make sure it's annoyance level is a 3 on a scale of 1 - 10. The reason for not making it too annoying is because you don't want to egg on your competition because they just might become more aggressive than you would like them to be.
Always remember, if your username is SLIGHTLY annoying, it will psychologically irritate your competition to your advantage.
Another easy step to vamping up your username is to use caps in appropriate places to give the Username a more clear and commanding presence.
Some penny auction sites don't have cap options, but for the most part, they do. You can capitalize the entire username if it is just one word. This gives you a more commanding presence.
Another great way to get your Username in the minds of your competition is to get all the Free Bids you possibly can. They're out there if you just search for them. I personally give away thousands of free bids away every day.
The reason why you'll want to stock up on free bids is because when your competition sees you throw down a bunch of bids for one auction item they may suppose that you will win at any cost. And that is a very good place to be when participating in penny auctions.
Most people don't consider this one little thing of having a great username as very important, but in the long run you'll be glad you chose the right one.

An Overview of the Concept Behind RSS Feeds

Expert Author Aldo AZ Zarattin
RSS Feeds stands for Really Simple Syndication. Other times it is also called Rich Site Summary. But both have same meanings. The first time you see this, it may appear complex. But as you go along on your information gathering venture in the cyber world, you will encounter this many times. Have you ever tried clicking on one?
Click and You Will Receive
You can compare RSS to a website or blog that offers web surfers something to read or a news feed of vast information. Everyone can opt to add what information they like for free to their own news reader. It can also be displayed on your PC's desktop or in the web browser that you are using.
So if you have click on the information provider of your choice, the news will be given to you as they come so you no longer need to check the site back for any updates. This made it easier for web users, especially those who were fond of subscribing to newsletters of their chosen site. It eliminates the hassle of checking your email everyday just to know if there is any update on your preferred site.
The concept behind this can be compared to how you want to get your newspapers. You can't afford to go to a stand everyday just to buy one. It will be easier if you will get your dailies delivered to you each day. By clicking on the RSS feature of the site of your choice, the news will be made available at your PC's desktop as long as you are connected to the Internet. All those information could be read or ignored, ready to be shared and printed.
It is easy to use. As long as you a connection and a web browser, you are ready to go. You can filter through the information and click on the topics that you find interesting. You can customize your choice and delete or add something every day. It is that simple. You will get all the information you want on a daily basis without having to go through all the individual web pages.
Trivia Time
Did you know that RSS was invented by Netscape? They used it at the time when they were struggling to enter the portal biz. They wanted the RSS.90, an XML format, which would make news gathering and adding those on their site a breeze. After a time, they came up with the RSS.91 but discontinued when they didn't push through with the portal business.
This is where UserLand Software picked it up. They didn't stop developing the idea. They had versions like.92,.93 and.94. They then developed their own interpretation of the original idea through the RSS 1.0. This is still being developed and as of late, they have the RSS 2.0.
Source of Information
You can also utilize RSS on your own web site. But rather than updating the feature manually, you can choose to use a tool like Weblog. This will automatically create the headlines, the links and descriptions.
At this day and age, information is vast and scattered all over the web. And as days go by, it becomes easier for people to choose the kind of information that they want to be given to them whenever they need such. Thanks to the ever developing concept of RSS Feeds.

Importance of Quality Content By Gabor Hodos

Expert Author Gabor Hodos
While discussing Search Engine Optimization Quality content is a term which is used most often. Quality content Creation is the most important element of a website and indeed you need to identify with how content is indexed by search engines and how you can ultimately make more money through your website. Thus in orders to achieve this successfully you need to build up a successful following. Consequently, Google will look at the website more favorably. As Google is a leading search engine and in order to retain the share of the market, the search engine requires creating quality search results so steps are taken to sift out poor quality website content.
There are mostly two types of web content available: text and multimedia. As the name suggests, text content, is the something written element of a website which includes texts embedded in images and other multimedia elements. Whereas multimedia web content refers to those contents of your site that is not in the form of text like videos, images, sound, flash animation, etc.
Moreover content may be in the forms of multimedia, articles, social media or blogs. You need to update a more than significant amount of content on your website as your competitors have. Target to achieve this successfully your site will inevitably rank above the competition.
However Google doesn't just look for any content. All the content needs to be unique, qualitative as well as relevant to your market.
Without good quality content, hopes are less to increase your website traffic and retaining your visitors. The website structure, design and layout may help funnel in more visitors; however at the end of the day website content is the reason why people visit your site.
People use the internet to look for information they require. Either they need to gather basic information about a particular topic or want to congregate advanced and additional knowledge regarding a specific topic they're already familiar with. But whatever the case may be, your website must provide valuable and informative content to these users.
Things That You Have To Keep In Mind
• Quality content act like a token to a higher search engine ranking. Most website visitors do not like seeing e-commerce sites at the top of search engine results for two reasons: firstly, these sites are busy in promoting and selling their products and secondly, these sites are image based with little or no supporting text based content. Even though the visual aesthetics can appeal to users, exclusive of real quality content visitors won't stay long and can browse around your site.
• Getting quality back links to your website is one of the best ways to prove to the search engines that your website is credible and deserves to be given higher ranking points. However quality content is a natural back link generator.
Final Thoughts
While the layout, structure, and design is crucial to have an effective website, the quality content is the bloodline of your website. Thus without quality content, the whole thing is worthless.
